Macallan Folio 2

Macallan Folio 2: The “Archival Series” from Macallan is a limited edition, the distillery-only release that recreates the old advertising styles of The Macallan. The front image features a watercolor image by Artist Sara Midda while the whisky itself is a 12-year-old aged in a sherry cask. Released in 2017, it is the 2nd release in the Archival Series and is presented in a tin book-style package, which includes a USB stick with distillery photographs from advertisement archives.

From the first brief from the then Macallan Chairman Peter Shiach in the late 1970s, creative advertising duo David Holmes and Nick Salaman produced 250 individual pieces of advertising for The Macallan spanning three decades. Moving from the small placement beside The Times crossword in 1980 (that features in the first Folio release) to bigger, more creative placements over time, the campaign had an intelligent wit and distinct tone of voice that became almost infectious.
